Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 20 ounces frozen pineapple
  • ½ lemon

Instructions

  • In a blender, add the frozen pineapple chunks, ice cream, pineapple juice and lemon juice.
  • Blend until the mixture is a soft serve consistency.
  • You can add this to a piping bag with a large pastry tip to get that soft serve whirled look. Or you can just scoop it and serve as is.
  • Store leftover dole whip in an airtight container in the freezer for at least a month but likely longer. Keep in mind it will freeze more solid, so to get it back to that soft serve consistency, you’ll want to let it thaw some. You may even want to blend it again.

Notes

If you want this dole whip recipe to be dairy free, use a dairy-free vanilla ice cream.
If you want to make a dole whip float, simply add a couple scoops to a small glass and then fill with chilled pineapple juice.
Add 1/4 cup granulated white sugar to the blender before blending for dole whip that tastes more like the Disney version. I don’t tend to do this as I like it without and I serve this to our toddler when I make it, and I don’t feel it needs the added sugar.
If your blender is having trouble pureeing the mixture. add a few tablespoons of additional pineapple juice at a time and continue to blend until it can more easily puree the mixture.
