Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  • In a small bowl mix together the softened butter, parmesan cheese, chopped parsley and garlic powder. If your butter isn’t soft melt it in the microwave for 30 seconds or less.
  • Cut the french loaf in half lengthwise, as if you were going to make a giant sandwich. I then like to cut off the ends and cut into individual pieces as I like more crispy edges on my garlic toast.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the bread.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper over the top.
  • Bake at 425°F for 8-10 minutes.

Notes

  • I like french bread for this recipe but any kind of bread can work! You could use sourdough, focaccia or even sandwich bread. If you use something thinner than french bread you may need to adjust (lessen) the baking time.
  • I use unsalted butter most of the time. If you use salted butter omit adding salt until after baking to taste and see if it’s already salty enough.
  • If you don’t have fresh parsley you could use Italian seasoning instead.
