I made this recipe as written except for on the second fry, I sprayed the okra with avocado oil rather than tossing in olive or coconut oil. It was absolutely delicious. Next time I’m going to add a little salt, pepper, garlic powder to the flour to give it a little oomph, and I’m going to make a double batch and put half in the freezer to see how they cook up from frozen. This is a keeper! Thank you so much for a great recipe that has made my husband very happy today.

can’t wait…my first orka experience not good….don’t go to pick in in blazin’ Mississippi slun with sleeveless blouse and no crisco on your hands….

This is excellent. I used frozen okra and just cooked a little longer. Tasted better than frying and so much better for you.

Best air fryer recipe for okra I’ve tried. This was a lot like my classic southern fried okra except for the use of bread crumbs instead of corn meal. Definitely much less oil was absorbed (1 TBS vs. 1/3 cup or more). I was pleasantly surprised at how little of the breading fell off into the air fryer. I’ll make this again. Thank you.

I freeze mine fresh, either whole or washed and cut into 1/4-1/2″ slices for soups and stews. Works great and so nice to have in fall and winter!

I love this recipe so much I started growing okra in my garden. It freezes well, though I have only tried freezing after cooking.

Please feel free to send any excess okra to me if you’re having trouble getting rid of it. I live in the Seattle area and it is major work to find fresh okra anywhere, and sometimes I can’t find it at all, and when I do, it’s pathetic-looking okra. I grew up in Oklahoma where it was cheap and plentiful, and I get these cravings . . . .
